COREtec

The next evolution in Hard Flooring

There’s a lot to love about hard flooring, for both builders and homeowners alike. Not only aesthetically pleasing, hard floors are also durable and easy to maintain, meaning they’re ready to take whatever you can throw at them.

However, while these qualities make this type of flooring a desirable option, some of the traditional methods of installing it can be considerably complex and time-consuming.This is where the inventive minds at COREtec come in. Creating an entirely new category of flooring that is simple to install, sustainable and sturdy, COREtec is turning heads in the flooring world, and it’s easy to see why.

What makes COREtec flooring different?

At Carpet Call, we are excited to be offering two lines of flooring from the COREtec range for our customers.

COREtec took vinyl flooring and completely redesigned it as a product. It began with an extra strong, high density core, made from recycled wood and bamboo dust, limestone, and virgin PVC. This waterproof core is then overlaid with a luxury vinyl plank with and extra heavy duty commercial wear layer which permanently bonds to the core. COREtec products are durable enough to handle high amounts of foot traffic. The PVC wear layer is then finished with a double coat of a UV-treated acrylic, for the perfect wood or stone look that is stain resistant and easy to clean.

Durability at its core

When you invest in new hard flooring, you’re going to want to know that it’s designed to last. With COREtec flooring, you’re not only getting a great-looking product, but one that has been put through the paces of durability.COREtec Plus’ patented construction ensures that it will not contract or expand (under normal conditions). This also means less hassle when it comes to installation – no expansion strips or acclimatisation required.A fantastic alternative to laminate flooring, glue-down or solid-locking luxury vinyl tile (LVT), COREtec is also 100 percent waterproof. It won’t swell or become odorous when exposed to moisture, meaning it’s even suitable to install in wet areas such as kitchens and laundries – with a lifetime waterproof warranty to boot.

No need to wait for comfort

Perhaps one of the best parts of COREtec’s innovative hard flooring is that you don’t need to go through a lengthy process of prepping and installation to begin enjoying the benefits – COREtec can be installed straight away.It is also one of the only products in the market that can be installed over existing flooring. This negates the need for some expensive subfloor preparation work, while also masking any subfloor defects or imperfections. In addition to its easy installation, one of the true benefits of COREtec Plus is what lies beneath the slick exterior – an underlay dedicated to comfort. COREtec flooring includes a cork underlayment, which helps to create the comfort and warmth that traditional LVT lacks. If this wasn’t enough, it also results in a quiet floor, while being naturally resistant to mould and mildew.

Flooring for the future - a sustainable option

COREtec products proudly carry the GREENGUARD GOLD certification. This denotes dedication to creating a vinyl product that isn’t detrimental for indoor air quality, and limits any chemical exposure – an incredibly important factor when creating a healthy home.Independently tested by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute, all COREtec products pass the GREENGUARD GOLD standard, meaning that they are safe for use in both residential situations as well as sensitive environments such as schools and daycare.

How easy is it to install COREtec hard flooring?

COREtec’s glue-less installation makes it easy to install just about anywhere. This is due to the innovative ‘tap lock’ system which fixes the planks in place.

Before you install your COREtec flooring, it is recommended you leave a 1/4” (0.6 cm) gap between the planks and the wall to allow for the movement of adjacent laminate and hardwood floors and well as the walls themselves. The planks fit together with a groove and tongue mechanism, which means that you simply angle one plank at about 33 degrees to the other to carefully align them before lowering the plank into place.Once the starter row of flooring is complete, simply position a pull bar against the wall and tap it firmly with a hammer to lock the boards into a more secure setting. Continue with the next row along, tapping the planks so that they lock alongside the first row by using a hammer and tapping block.A bridge pattern of plank laying is recommended to ensure a smooth fit across the floor. Be sure to ask the experts at Carpet Call for more information about assembly instructions if you are considering installing COREtec yourself.

How can I maintain my COREtec hard flooring?

Now that you have your beautiful new hard flooring in place, you’re going to want to take care of it to continue enjoying the high-quality finish.

Once installed, remove any dust, loose dirt or other debris by doing a vacuum, sweep or dust mop of the floor. You can also lightly damp mop the area with a well-wrung mop. If you’re moving furniture or other heavy objects across your newly-installed floor, be sure to use plywood or another type of board to protect the floor. For general maintenance, either daily or as required, simply vacuum, sweep or dust mop as usual, avoiding any treated dust mops. For a wet clean, use a pH-neutral cleaning product, diluted in cool water, or a non-residue leaving spray cleaner. One of the best ways to preserve your luxury vinyl flooring is to protect it from the abrasive dirt and grit that can damage the flooring over time. You can do this by placing walk off mats at any doorways or entrances into your home, as well as cushioning heavy objects such as tables, lounge suites and chairs with non-staining floor protector pads.

Long-term maintenance for your COREtec floor

To ensure that your COREtec floor retains its slick, like-new finish, it is recommended that you occasionally apply floor polish as needed.

You may find that some areas need attention before others, in particular high-traffic areas such as hallways and entranceways. With a high-quality floor polish, you can help to protect some of these high-traffic areas for up to a year.To prepare the surface, simply vacuum or dry sweep the floor before using a damp mop to remove any lingering dirt or grit. Next, use your pH-neutral cleaner, following product instructions to do a thorough scrubbing of the floor. When you apply the polish, use an untreated microfibre applicator mop to make a thin, even coat. Do not dilute the polish, and follow the usage instructions on the label. Apply two to three coats of the polish, leaving 30-60 minutes between each coat to allow each layer to fully air dry.
